About CoffeeHQ
CoffeeHQ is a reference site for the full coffee journey — from growing and processing through roasting, grinding, brewing and serving — with practical tools and troubleshooting alongside the explanations.
What you will find here
The site is organised around what a reader is trying to do. If you want to make a particular coffee, start with drinks and brewing methods. If something tastes wrong, troubleshooting works through causes in order of likelihood. The tools do the arithmetic for ratios, recipes and dilution, and the techniques cover the skills that recipes assume you already have.
Beyond the cup, CoffeeHQ covers where coffee comes from and how it is produced, the science of extraction and roasting, the preparation traditions of different countries, and the history and culture around it. New readers are best served by the beginners' route.
How a page is made
Each subject on CoffeeHQ is held as a structured record: a drink has a dose and a yield, a brewing method has a temperature range, a historical claim has a status. Those records are checked when the site is built, so a ratio quoted on a page is the same number its calculator uses, and a link between two subjects is validated rather than typed by hand. The written explanations sit alongside the records and are authored subject by subject.
Pages are not signed by individual authors. HEKNO Ltd is editorially responsible for everything published here, and the corrections policy explains how to report an error and what happens when you do.
What CoffeeHQ will and will not claim
- Ranges, not single right answers. Brewing ratios, temperatures and drink proportions are given as the ranges people actually work in. Where one figure appears it is a starting point, and the page says so.
- Tendencies, not guarantees. A brewing method tends to produce a certain kind of cup. The coffee, the roast, the water and the person making it can all outweigh that tendency.
- No first-hand tasting or testing claims. CoffeeHQ does not run a tasting panel or a laboratory, and does not write as though it does. Figures come from named sources or from arithmetic on a stated recipe.
- No “best”. Comparisons set out what differs and who each option suits. They do not rank products, and the selector tools explain their reasoning rather than issuing a verdict.
- Disputed history is labelled as disputed. Many well-known coffee origin stories are legend or are undocumented. They are told as such, not repeated as fact.
- No health advice. The health pages summarise what public health bodies say and are not a substitute for a clinician.
The source and evidence policy describes how claims are labelled and lists the sources CoffeeHQ draws on. The editorial policy covers how content is written and kept independent.
Your data
CoffeeHQ has no accounts and no sign-up. Favourites and shopping lists are stored in your own browser and never sent anywhere, and the calculators run on your device: the numbers you type into a tool are not transmitted or recorded. Optional analytics run only if you accept them. The privacy notice and cookies page give the detail.
How CoffeeHQ is paid for
