Image and licensing policy
CoffeeHQ publishes a small, deliberately limited set of images. Every one has passed a review gate before rendering: an approved review status, real alt text describing what the picture actually shows, confirmed licensing, and — for anything included in structured data — commercial-use approval and recorded dimensions. Pages are still written to read fully and clearly with text alone, so a page with no image is complete rather than unfinished.
Where our images come from
Published photography is licensed under the Pexels and Pixabay licences, which permit commercial use without a per-image attribution requirement. Where a creator is recorded we keep that credit with the image record regardless, and every image keeps its source URL and a checksum of the exact delivered file so its provenance stays auditable.
AI-generated images
Some published images are AI-generated rather than photographs. Each one carries a visible caption on the page saying so, because a generated picture is an illustration, not evidence, and we would rather you knew which you were looking at.
We restrict where AI imagery may be used. It is acceptable for concepts, diagrams and general illustration. It is not acceptable where the image would be doing evidentiary work — identifying a product you might buy, showing a fault you are trying to diagnose, or documenting a specific cultural practice — and a generated image may never carry a real manufacturer's trademark, logo or brand name.
Images we have chosen not to publish
Several images that were approved by our image-production process are deliberately withheld, because reviewing each one against the page it was meant for showed it did not do the job honestly: generated equipment images carrying fabricated brand marks, images showing the wrong category of device, comparison images that only showed one side of the comparison, and a diagnostic image that could not actually support a diagnosis. Those pages currently render no image rather than a misleading one, and the requirement stays open until a correct image exists.
Corrections
If you believe an image on CoffeeHQ is mislabelled, wrongly licensed, misattributed, or does not show what the page says it shows, please tell us — see our corrections policy for how we handle it, or contact us directly. Rights holders may also use licensing@coffeehq.app.
