Mogiana
A coffee area on the border of São Paulo and Minas Gerais. Its registered form is Alta Mogiana, an indication of provenance granted in 2013 and amended in 2023, which covers 23 municipalities, sixteen in São Paulo and seven in Minas Gerais, among them Franca. The registration is for arabica, names Catuaí and Mundo Novo as the varieties most grown, and allows coffee dried in the fruit or pulped first, harvested by hand or by machine. 'Mogiana' on its own is the older, looser name and has no legal boundary.
